Sun
Pipes for the Dreamers is an epic, 12 CD multimedia project combining
fiction and music to tell the story of Ramon, a man who though completely
physically paralysed, learns to Dream, to travel to any place or time
to observe and experience any person's life. It is only when he discovers
this startling ability to Dream, to travel to strange places in his Dreambody,
that he begins a remarkable journey towards spiritual, emotional, and
even physical healing. Ramon's quest brings him into contact with strange
and wonderful characters in many places, from the grim limbo-world of
the Dark City to the big-sky Montana plains. Through the many other rich
characters in the Sun Pipes cycle we tour the psychological intimacies
of therapist and client, and the jungle hell of war torn Viet Nam, all
the while following an adventure of dire importance to the cosmos itself.
The first volume of Sun Pipes For The Dreamers contains fifty-three chapters
and songs. The work is primarily intended to be presented to a listener
in the oral tradition. Because the first volume is approximately twelve
hours long, it is best appreciated if the listener can hear the story
with a minimum of interruptions, as during a long road trip, or through
high quality headphones when snowed in, or while at home with nothing
to do.
Sun
Pipes for the Dreamers is the creation of Gary Deatherage, a clinical
psychologist living near Creston, British Columbia, Canada. Gary draws
from a lifetime of his own adventures to give us the Sun Pipes saga, using
many of his own recurring dreams in the story. In addition to writing
the story, Gary also wrote all of the music that accompanies Sun Pipes.
There are an estimated 120 songs that go with this project and Gary has
been writing them for more than twenty years. On the CDs, the listener
will be treated to his guitar playing and singing, backed by IICosmic,
the Fort Cosmos house band.
We
are currently offering Sun Pipes for the Dreamers as a Limited Edition
Boxed Set, featuring 4 bonus CDs of Gary's original music in their orginal
album format, including liner notes and cover art. Many of these songs
can also be found accompanying their respective chapters in the Sun Pipes
saga.
